Abstract

Under condition of growing threat of terrorism, the author poses and discusses some key issues of the relationships between the radical ideology and terrorists’ networks. The main topics of the article are the notion of the state of all-penetrating risk, the principles and forms of network wars, specificity of modern terrorist attacks, a paradox of ’strength of weakness’, how modern society and citizens can confront terrorism, and changes which are urgently needed in the current method and structure of sociological knowledge.
