Abstract

The article is focused on achievements and collapses of the Soviet power in connection with the contemporary period. Analyzing the successes, the author emphasis such spheres as economic achievements; social protection of the population; care about the development of cultural and educational spheres; creation of a new type of federative state (USSR); formation of a united community – the Soviet people; overcoming of social inequality etc. The author considers that the collapses of the Soviet power are tightly interconnected with its achievements. Thus, social protection neighbors with social parasitism, development of culture and education – with ideological narrow-mindedness, federalism – with unitarianism, internationalism – with underestimation of national peculiarities and interests of peoples of the Soviet Union. In conclusion, the author draws some topical lessons for modern Russia.
