Activities of Russian Public Organizations to Assist the Population of the Occupied Serbia (1915-1916)

The retreat of the Serbian army in the autumn of 1915 and, as a consequence, the emergence of refugees and the population of occupied Serbia, the Russian society perceived as a humanitarian disaster. A number of very successful actions were organized in Russia to raise funds in favor of the Serbian population. However, the mechanism of humanitarian assistance became more complicated during one and a half years of war. Now, it should be adjusted not only with the allies, but also with neutral states, the role of which gradually increased.
