Abstract
The article is devoted to the main stages of public diplomacy in Russia at the present stage. Public diplomacy is an important tool to make foreign policy more successful. The author gives the overview of definitions of the foreign policy, given by the Russians researches. The author also explores the challenges of promoting the development of reasonable perception of Russia in the world. Special attention is paid to the reflection of the problems of public diplomacy in the official documents of the Russian Federation. The author also provides an overview of the formation of institutions of public diplomacy. In addition, the article examines the stages of formation of Russian policy in this direction.
