Abstract
On materials of statistical and sociological data, Russian, Chinese and western online media the article describes and analyzes the main data and historical events related to the contemporary Buddhist community in the PRC, and the place and role of the Buddhist factor in domestic and foreign policy of the PRC. On the base of the analysis of the Chinese media-content, the author concludes the growing interest of the representatives of the Chinese middle class, business elite in the Buddhist culture and philosophy. There is an active process of creating a harmonious and healthy modern society in China, as well as the great spiritual and economic contribution of the Buddhist doctrine to the development of Chinese culture and economy.
