Abstract
The article analyzes the patriotic role of N.M. Karamzin in the social and political modernization of Russia in 1811–1815 and in the confirmation of the new doctrine of Orthodox absolutism, which allowed strengthening state unity of Russia and delaying catastrophic events of revolutionary changes.
