Abstract
The article analyzes the main causes of the February Revolution of 1917, its connection with the October Revolution and the subsequent history of Russia. It shows that all the revolutionary upheavals of a century ago were not isolated events, but they are related both to previous events, such as the murder of Alexander II, P. Stolypin, etc., and with subsequent ones. The author proves the unity of transit from 1881 up to the present time, in which both the events of 1917, the disintegration of the USSR, and the conflict of 1993 are constituent elements. At the same time, the hope for avoiding revolutionary upheavals is associated with the peculiarities of the socio-cultural situation in the Russian regions, with the role played by the acting subject.
