Abstract
The article is devoted to the political and legal regulation of cross-border cooperation between the regions of states. It draws attention to the basic concepts and principles of international relations and international law which can be applied to the analysis and regulation of international relations of the regions of states. It is the principles of inviolability and inviolability of state borders, of the territorial integrity of the state, of non-interference in each other's internal affairs, of universal respect for human rights, of cooperation, of peaceful settlement of disputes, of non-use of force or the threat of force. The author analyzes the phenomenon of cross-border cooperation and classifies the main theoretical and methodological approaches to its definition. The article considers the political, realistic, integrational, regional, social and «conflict-cooperation» approach.
