Abstract

The article considers the means of automation of the editorial process. First off, it indicates the stages of the editorial cycle of the article processing and the features of each of them. Next, it considers the functions of specialized software on the example of the most common system – Open Journal System (OJS). The author discusses alternative options for organizing the editorial cycle, which does not require specialized software. For example, a file-register of articles in the form of a table, a list of reviewers and organized storage on the principle of a separate folder for all materials to this article. The author notes that for magazines with a small annual turnover of articles, the use of full-fledged specialized software can be redundant. In conclusion, the author gives a table with a list of electronic editorial possibilities and with notes, what one can obtain and without using special programs.
