Abstract
The article examines the development of the co-operative societies in Russia in 1907–1914: their nature, kinds and forms; their peculiarities in Russia; co-operative unions, congresses and the co-operative press; participation of proletariat, peasantry, employees and intelligentsia in co-operative movement; help of zemstvos to co-operative societies. The author analyzes a contradictory government’s politics towards co-operative movement and draws the conclusion about the significance and prospects of co-operative societies’ development.
