Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis the role of the Komsomol in the political system of the USSR. The authors note that the Komsomol used to be a state body, just the youth-oriented one. They argue that Komsomol was an official guide of the party’s directives towards the youth, it developed and implemented youth policy and influenced the development both of the Communist and the non-Communist youth organizations. The authors show that even in the 1920s the Komsomol, being supported by the Bolshevik party and the state authority, was the only youth organization, that singlehandedly defeated both anti- and pro-Communist youth organizations.
