Abstract
Youth as a socio-professional group is the most susceptible to informal employment, because quite often the professional qualities, skills and abilities of its representatives are at the initial stage of their formation. That is the reason why scientific comprehension has an interest for the youth’s view on informal employment. The material of the article is based on the authors’ sociological research using the method of formalized survey. The majority of respondents accept that the problem of informal employment among young people is actual, but also consider that its solution doesn’t require an immediate action.
The results allow suggesting that young people have a positive attitude to the presence of informal employment in their experience and the dominance of the six-month period of informal employment. The authors determine that the leading reason for the spread of informal employment among young people is the desire to combine study and work, and the main areas of informal employment are services, catering and trade.
