Abstract
The article deals with the activity of Soviet medical specialists in the Korean People's Democratic Republic in 1945 – early 1950s. Based on an extensive range of sources, some of which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, an analysis of the effectiveness of the transfer of Soviet health care principles is given. The author shows the activity of medical specialists from the USSR to combat epidemics and train national personnel in the difficult socio-cultural, political and economic realities of post-war North Korea. The study presents an ambiguous assessment of the work of hospitals of the Union of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
