Abstract
Object of the Study. Far Eastern border regions in the aspect of sustainable development.
Subject of the Study. Demographic stability of the territories of the border region as a component of the social subsystem of sustainable development.
Purpose of the Study. Assessment of the demographic stability of municipalities in the border region. It is suggested to carry out an assessment taking into account the typology of municipalities based on the natural and climatic conditions and the administrative and economic importance of the municipal formation. The Main Theoretical and Empirical Provisions of the Article. Demographic sustainability is an important component of the social subsystem of sustainable development in the region. The article analyzes the demographic stability of the border region. As a result of the study, it was revealed that at present the region is characterized by a low level of demographic stability.
