Abstract

The development of adequate measures to combat the spread of socially significant diseases requires using up to date tools available to demographers and epidemiologists for the input and analysis of data on the spread of population movements in space. Purpose of the Study. Creating a medical-demographic geographic information system (MDGIS) to study the dynamics of suicidal behaviour in the Amur Region of the Russian Far East including representatives of indigenous minorities. Geoinformation technologies and means of medical demography have been used. Results. The study was carried out on the basis of the Geoinformation Ecological System GEOECOS of the Amur River basin, using various environmental and mathematical methods for assessing the quality of life of a human population in the extreme conditions of the Far East of Russia, taking into account the diverse factors of interaction between the society and the environment. The authors examined the main factors involved in the etiopathogenesis of suicidal behavior in the socio- and ethnocultural aspects. The specifics of the distribution of completed and uncompleted suicide attempts in the Amur region have been revealed. In addition, the aggregate of the main causes and factors characterizing the actual suicidal situation in the Amur Region of the Far East of Russia, including those in the areas of compact residence of the indigenous small ethnic groups of the North has been studied. According to the method of information modelling complex conflict systems, the authors have analyzed the medical-demographic and sociopsychological problems of depressive disorders, offered original methodological approaches to the use of information models for medical-demographic and socioeconomic studies of suicidal behaviour and the prevention of depressive disorders.
