Abstract

The Object of the Study. The quality of life of the population in the Russian Federation. The Subject of the Study. The quality of life of the population in the regions of Russia. Analyzing the theoretical perception of the category «quality of life». The Theoretical Aspect of the Subject is studying conceptual approaches to the research of the concept of «quality of life» in theoretical sociology. Theoretical Propositions. The authors note the need for monitoring studies of the quality of life in the Russian Federation. A peculiarity of the sociological approach to the study of the definition of «quality of life» can be including of sociopsychological factors of the content of this concept in a set of objective indicators of measuring. One of the important social contradictions of the present, against the background of which the quality of life of Russians is studied, is the widening of the subjectively perceived confrontation between the individual and society, which introduces its own corrections to the analysis. The Empirical Aspect of the Subject. Studying approaches and systems of indicators and indicators of quality of life for empirical measurements. The scale and ambiguity of the category «quality of life» also determines the variability of approaches to its description and evaluation. «Quality of life» is a complex integral indicator, consisting of a set of indicators. For the formation of quality of life indicators, the combined approach is most justified and adequately applied. There is a significant correlation between the quality of life and the indicator of the expected (expected) life expectancy in specific regions. Results. Problems are identified in carrying out empirical research on this issue. It is noted that the objective, subjective and combined approaches are widely used in sociology in the way of forming indicators. The Human Development Index (HDI) is regarded as a system for assessing the quality of life. A certain «breakthrough» in the notions of the quality of life is characterized by the development of «international indicators of the quality of life». According to sociological data, residents of megacities - Moskva and Sankt- Peterburg (that is, political units with the highest standard of living) demonstrate the highest level of satisfaction with the quality of life.
