Abstract
The Object of the Study is migration in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD).
The Subject of the Study. The theoretical aspect is revealing territorial characteristics of the influence of migration on change in population.
The Empirical Aspect is analysing indicators of permanent migration and temporary labour migration, based on statistical data of Rosstat and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The Purpose of the Study is defining trends of migration in the regions of the district as well as the role of the district in migration exchange with the other districts and territories in recent years. The main theoretical and empirical aspects: the study determined that only international migration partially compensates for population losses of the Far Eastern Federal District caused by the outflow to the other regions of Russia. The objective factors are at the core of this situation, and its change seems unlikely in the short term.
