Abstract
Purpose. Improving the social welfare system, the North-Eastern regions of Russia being an example.
Subject. The article discusses some of the theoretical and methodological aspects of developing the system of social protection of the population of the North-Eastern areas of the country.
Problem. Considering the historical, national, regional and other social factors in shaping the region’s social protection strategy of the population is needed.
Direction of Critical analyzing the problem. Estimates in the formation of the social protection system in the transition to a market economy have changed Prioritization of the regulatory role of the state in matters of social protection of the population in the conditions of transition to market relations is urgent, implementing a single integrated performance monitoring system in matters of social security in particular.
