Abstract
The article deals with the concept of structuring of the social profile of poverty in Russia. Characteristics of the main groups of poor households, included in such categories as "perpetually poor", "protracted poor" and "functionally poor" are given. It is concluded that the main focus of poverty reduction in the country should become development of a specific system of measures designed to cut the scale and reduce the depth of poverty of each of its kind, and the use of such complex tools to overcome poverty, that will take into account both its nature and socioeconomic situation of different groups of poor households in the system of social relations.
